  • Q: Cannot find shortcut or executable file in start menu. Where is the program?

    A: SDExplorer is not a stand-alone application, so it does not have the executable file. It is a Windows Explorer extension. Please look at this small video tutorial how to install and launch SDExplorer.

    A: Open the "Tools -> Folder Option" menu item.

    Make sure that checkbox "Show all folders" is selected

    Q: I use a proxy. When I try to log in to SDExplorer nothing happens.

    A: You need to configure your Microsoft Internet Explorer to use a proxy server, because the Live ID authentication dialog works only via predefined proxy settings in IE.


    Q: I have just created an MSN account and I can't get access to OneDrive storage from SDE.

    A: If you have never used the OneDrive service, you need first to activate it via the web interface here.


    Q: When I click on the SDExplorer icon, I do not get a prompt for user name and password. No files or folders are listed. Am I missing something?

    A: First of all, make sure that you have installed the latest build of the SDExplorer. If not, upgrade it and try to log in again. If it doesn't help, please contact us, stating the SDExplorer build number and OS version.


    Q: Can you add a check, so that when I copy files to a Onedrive folder, it only copies files that do not exist in the target Onedrive folder?

    A: This feature was added in SDExplorer Advanced Edition. Please check the version you have installed and upgrade it if needed.

    Now, before uploading, SDExplorer will check the target folder and if any conflicts are detected, you will see the dialog box shown in the picture below.

    Q: Is there any way to see the files that are shared with me in SDExplorer?

    A:

    • Find the "Browse a public account" toolbar button.

    • Select the item marked with a green arrow at the wizard page.

    You should see all folders and files that are shared with you in Onedrive.

    Q: How can I browse a OneDrive account of my friend using SDExplorer?

    A:

    • Find the "Browse a public account" toolbar button.

    • Select the marked item at the wizard page.

    • Specify an account identifier or URL to the shared file (1) provided by your friend, press "Test" button (2). If you have entered valid information, you can close the wizard (3) and start browsing.

    • If you want to finish browsing an account in the guest mode, press the marked toolbar button again.

    • Next time, you can very quickly select a previously browsed account. Just select the marked item at the wizard page.

    • Select an account to be browsed (1) and close the wizard (2).

    Q: How can I browse a OneDrive account of my Live Group using SDExplorer?

    A: This feature is not supported anymore by OneDrive service itself


    Q: I selected my preferred language in the Language dialog, but after restarting SDE, the interface language was not changed. What should I do?

    A: You need to clear cookies in your web browser. If your browser is IE, you can read about how to do so in this Microsoft support article.


    Q: How can I assign a drive letter to my OneDrive folder and back up my documents?

    A:

    • Select the item "Map Network Drive..." after right-clicking on the folder you want to map.
    • Mount folder
    • Specify the drive letter you want to assign to the folder.
    • Mount options dialog
    • Wait a little bit, as the connection process may take some time. The mapped drive is ready now.

    • You can unmount the mapped folder at any time by choosing the menu item "Disconnect Network Drive..."

    Q: How do I enable the update availability detection function?

    A: While installing SDExplorer, enable the "Automatically check for the latest update" option on the "Program Updates" page of the wizard.

    Auto Update option

    Q: How can I enable this function if I did not check this box while installing SDExplorer?

    A: Two options are available:

    • Check the box while installing a newer version.
    • Use the registry editor (regedit.exe) to find the
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SkyDriveExplorer key and change the value of the AutoUpdate parameter to 1.

    Q: Does SDExplorer download and install new versions automatically?

    A: No, when a new version becomes available, SDExplorer shows a popup window with a notification text and a description of the changes in the updated version. You can proceed to installing the new version by clicking a corresponding link in the popup window.


    Q: Is there any chance of having SDE made available for Mac OS X?

    A: We currently do not have plans to port the application to the Mac platform.
